Joe Neguse helped women and families in all 21 votes we track.
Voted for protecting abortion access in every state.
What it means for herShe's 27, pregnant, and lives in Texas. Texas is one of 13 states that ban almost all abortions. This bill would have protected abortion in every state until a fetus could survive outside the womb, and later when her life or health is at risk. Source: Guttmacher Institute, Sept. 2026
Voted for a bigger Child Tax Credit.
What it means for herShe's raising two kids alone on a low-wage job. Because the credit grows with earnings, she gets less of it than families who earn more. This bill would have raised the credit for about 16 million children in families like hers in its first year. Source: Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, 2024
Voted for the 2022 gun safety law.
What it means for herShe's 22 and just left a boyfriend who hit her. An abused woman whose abuser has a gun is about 5 times as likely to be killed. Before this 2022 law, a conviction for hitting her barred a husband from having a gun, but not a boyfriend she did not live with. Now it covers boyfriends too. We wrote down which bills and nominations count, and why, before we scored anyone. A vote counts as hurting women and families when it takes away care, coverage, safety or rights, and as helping when it protects them. A missed vote never counts against anyone. Money and court cases are shown, but never change the grade.
